Today is the 45th anniversary of Earth Day: a day dedicated to conservation, green living and the preservation of our planet. All of us at Prime Five homes believe that sustainability and being eco-friendly is not only important but essential; to us, it’s a way of life.
Earth Day was proposed by peace activist John McConnell in 1970 as a day dedicated to raising awareness about the need for conservation. After the huge success of subsequent Earth Days in 1970, 1980, and 1990, Nelson and Bruce Anderson turned Earth Day into an annual event. Looking further into the future, new goals were created to continue the conversation about global warming and clean energy. More information about what the Earth Day Network and what they stand for can be found here.
Prime Five Homes is completely dedicated to being green and eco-friendly, as all of our houses feature reclaimed wood, solar panels, and new water saving technologies which are sustainable and positively impact the environment. Being eco-friendly is not only a trend to follow, but a responsibility that all of us have.
For Earth Day 2015, we’d like to encourage everyone to take part in looking out for our planet and practicing various green initiatives! You might be wondering, “What can I do to be more green?” Here are some helpful hints for greener living and doing a little good for mother earth on this historical day. Feel free to let us know what kind of things you’ll be doing for Earth Day in the comments section below!
We’re excited for everyone choosing greener alternatives today and hope that this will encourage people to be more conscious and eco-friendly throughout the rest of the year as well. Instead of just a holiday, make it everyday.
